Data Storage & Features

Data storage governs what the platform keeps, for how long, and how it is protected — the levers behind the data tiers. Together with the other paid features, it is licensed per tenant by Innovatrics; the optional features a Company may switch on itself are on the Configuration → Features page.

Storage tier​

The tier determines whether verification data persists beyond a session:

  • Session-based — nothing is kept after the session; the lightest privacy footprint.
  • Stored — Customer and Digital Identity records, captured images, and audit history are retained, unlocking the back office and fraud tooling.

Personal data storage is part of the Company's plan and is switched on or off only by Innovatrics, through the Data storage licence. The dashboard has no switch for it, and the configuration API refuses a change from the tenant with 403 storage_managed_by_innovatrics. Granting the licence turns storage on and prepares the tenant's database; if that preparation fails, the licence change is undone, so the licence and the storage state never disagree.

When storage is switched off​

When the Data storage licence is removed from a tenant that already stores records, the records stay stored and unchanged. The Company can still read, export, edit and anonymize them in the back office and through the Customer API, but no new Customers are created — a request to create one is refused with 403 storage_not_licensed, and new verifications are not stored.

Licensed features​

Three paid features are licensed per tenant by Innovatrics:

The document duplicity check (dedup_document) and the combined outcome (best_duplicate) need no licence; they require only the Stored tier.

When a feature is not licensed:

  • its step is not offered in the workflow builder, and the predefined workflows come without it (the NFC onboarding workflow is hidden; the onboarding workflows run without the face duplicity check);
  • saving a workflow that contains the step is refused with 400 invalid_workflow, and each unlicensed step is reported as feature_not_licensed;
  • if the licence is removed after such a workflow was saved, its sessions still run to the end, but as session-based runs: no Digital Identity is stored and no Customer is created or changed. The result is still delivered by webhook.

Features page​

Configuration → Features lists the optional features an Administrator can switch on or off for the tenant:

When a feature is off, workflows that reference its steps fail validation and its settings and tabs are hidden.
