Add Cameras

Cameras belong to Face Matcher. You register a stream there, Face Matcher performs detection and matching, and the resulting identifications flow into the Hub. The corridor only needs to know which Face Matcher cameras belong to which unit — that is the one setting this page covers.

Step 1 — Register the camera in Face Matcher

Add the camera in Station at http://localhost:8000 (Cameras in Station) or through the Face Matcher REST API. Server-side RTSP streams and edge streams from smart cameras are both supported; see Cameras for how each source works and Choosing a camera if hardware is not decided yet. Note the camera ID Face Matcher assigns.

Face Matcher connects to the stream immediately and begins emitting detections; no corridor service needs a restart for that.

Step 2 — Wire the camera into a unit

Add the camera's Face Matcher ID to the unit definition in .env.hub so the Hub attributes its events to the right corridor or e-gate:

FOUNDATION_UNITS_0_ID=corridor-1
FOUNDATION_UNITS_0_TYPE=CORRIDOR
FOUNDATION_UNITS_0_CAMERAS=<camera-id-1>,<camera-id-2>

Apply the change by recreating the Hub:

docker compose up -d hub

Events from a camera that is not listed on any unit go nowhere by design.

Verify

Open the corridor dashboard at http://localhost:8095, or query the Hub's GraphQL API at http://localhost:8090/corridor-foundation/graphql for recent identity and zone events on the unit. If Face Matcher shows the stream but no faces, start with Camera Selection & Placement.

Next step

Add People to Watchlists — enroll subjects so the corridor can clear them.
