Introduction

Smart Corridors & e-Gates combines two complementary forms of automated traveler passage. Both identify travelers biometrically and publish their results through the same integration surface, but they answer different operational needs: the corridor maximizes throughput for people in motion, while the eGate makes confidence-based control decisions at a fixed point.

Smart Corridor

A smart biometric corridor is a walk-through border control system that continuously captures and verifies a traveler's biometric data (typically face, sometimes palm or iris) while they move through a controlled passage. It enables passive, hands-free, stopless identification by matching the traveler against pre-enrolled or document-linked biometric data, improving throughput and user experience.

The corridor is optimized for high-throughput environments, prioritizing speed and minimal user interaction.

eGate

An eGate is a controlled, automated border checkpoint that performs adaptive biometric identity verification, built around 1:N identification as the primary mechanism, with dynamic multi-factor escalation based on confidence levels.

Instead of relying on static 1:1 document checks, the system uses:

  • Primary: 1:N facial identification
  • Optional / enforced: additional modalities (e.g., 1:N palm, fingerprint)
  • Fallback (last resort): 1:1 document-based verification

This approach transforms the eGate from a fixed checkpoint into a confidence-based identity control point, enabling both high-security and optimized throughput.
