Border Control & Passenger Facilitation
The Border Control & Passenger Facilitation cluster provides a comprehensive biometric platform for modern border management and automated passenger processing. It combines core biometric identity infrastructure with traveler processing applications and automated border crossing technologies, enabling governments, airports, and system integrators to build scalable and interoperable border control ecosystems.
Solutions
- Border Control Platform — central biometric identity platform with Core ABIS, enrollment toolkits, Border Post Module, and Traveler Management Module
Border Control Platform Solution
At the foundation of the cluster is the Border Control Platform Solution, which acts as the central biometric identity platform for traveler registration, authentication, and encounter management across border operations.
Its Core and ABIS (Automated Biometric Identification System) delivers high-performance biometric matching for face, fingerprints, iris, palmprints, and contactless fingerprints, supporting both 1:1 verification and large-scale 1:N identification. The platform exposes secure APIs for enrollment, search, watchlist checks, and system integration, while built-in deduplication, audit trails, and role-based access control ensure strong governance, fraud prevention, and operational traceability.
Enrollment and authentication toolkits
The Border Control ABIS is complemented by a range of enrollment and authentication toolkits supporting different operational scenarios:
- Border Post Module — workstation-based traveler enrollment and verification for border officers, integrating document scanners and biometric sensors to process travelers in real time.
- Mobile Pre-Enrollment Toolkit and Self-Service Enrollment Toolkit — remote and pre-border workflows that allow passengers to register and verify their identity through mobile applications, kiosks, or PCs using document capture, biometric verification, and liveness detection.
- Mobile Field & Land Border Biometric Toolkit — biometric verification and enrollment on handheld devices for land borders, checkpoints, and field enforcement operations, including offline biometric matching when connectivity is limited.
Traveler Management Module
A key element of the platform is the Traveler Management Module, the person-centric operational repository for border authorities. It maintains persistent traveler identity records linked to travel documents, biometrics, and travel history. Each border interaction is recorded as an encounter event — entry, exit, visa action, refusal, field check — providing officers with a complete traveler history and decision-support context while maintaining full operational traceability.
A unified biometric border ecosystem
The Border Control Platform and its components create a unified biometric border ecosystem — from traveler pre-registration and identity management to encounter management across border operations. The platform integrates with national border management systems and external security infrastructure, enabling authorities to increase throughput, strengthen security controls, and deliver faster, more convenient border crossing experiences for travelers.
